Honey
Back in June 2015 we took on some beehives onto our farm. We can’t believe that is now 5 years ago! The decision behind having the beehives was that honey bees absolutely love the oilseed rape flower from our crop. At this time of year when the crop is in full flower, the bees are busily buzzing around collecting all the pollen from it. It really is a great sight. By having the beehives on site, not only could we provide a home for the honey bees, but we could also produce our own honey too.
The oilseed rape crop produces a large amount of nectar and the honey bees make a peppery flavour, light coloured honey from it, which is delicious!
Our honey is available to buy online and at the events we attend. This is a great addition to our product range and is as versatile as our rapeseed oils. Here are some of our favorite uses for our delicious honey:
Thickly spread on buttered toast.
Use in baking.
As a natural sweetener in tea and coffee.
Mixed with our rapeseed oils for a delicious salad dressing.
Use with mustard to make a glaze for meat or vegetables.
